The intention of the project lies in the increasing restriction of human freedom of movement. Territorial references play a crucial role in society. After all, it is borders that define space. This thesis is thematized based on four gateway towers above the Trans-Manhattan_Expressway in New York City: the highway as a border. What is happening at the border? How are architectural boundaries defined? How does the space change by drawing a border? The border is a field of tension and transition. It decides on inclusion and exclusion, separation and connection, inside and outside.
